Safe and Lively

Enhanced Wayfinding & Landscaping

Revitalise Clacton’s Town Centre through comprehensive public space upgrades

This Community Regeneration Partnership (CRP) scheme will enhance the quality of the public realm within Clacton Town Centre. This could involve interventions such as improved paving, seating, bins, street furniture, greening/landscaping and wayfinding. These improvements aim to foster increased pride in the area, boost feelings of safety, and attract more visitors, increasing footfall and dwell time. Additionally, the project will improve accessibility to both the town centre and the seafront, and enhance the overall cleanliness of public spaces.

Pride in Place plans to further build on the momentum of the CRP programme to improve the quality and appeal of public spaces in Clacton Town Centre. The project will expand the ongoing CRP programme to include:
– Expansion of geography of the CRP public realm study
– Coordination with opportunities captured in the emerging Clacton Masterplan
– Delivery of at least one public realm ‘hotspot area’ (Town Centre square, Railway Station forecourt and its connected environs, or Pier Avenue)
– Town Centre wayfinding strategy and upgrades, including the ‘Welcome to Clacton’ sign and creation of visual cues to Clacton’s heritage/the Clacton Airshow
– Community co-design and stewardship plan
