Love Clacton Vision and £20million investment approved by Government
23 March 2026
A vision for a brighter future for Clacton has been approved by Government, meaning delivery can soon begin on a number of exciting projects.
Clacton Town Board, set up to administer the government-funded Pride in Place programme, submitted its ten-year regeneration vision and four-year investment plan to ministers at the end of last year.
It has now been agreed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government – meaning the £20million investment into Clacton over the next ten years can be unlocked.
This vision has been really shaped by the local community through extensive engagement, run by CVS Tendring, and the various sector representatives on the Town Board, so we are confident it will deliver a better Clacton in the long-term. I am particularly grateful for the contribution from Clacton’s young people, which we want to build on.
Approval of the plan unlocks the first stages of funding, and the Board will now be focused on getting work underway, particularly on some of the ‘quick win’ interventions outlined in it that reflect what the community asked for.
I really encourage residents to keep in mind that just as Rome was not built in a day, these projects will happen over the next decade – and we are focused on delivering sustainable improvements for our community.
I am grateful to government that this has been approved, and look forward to sharing more details with Clactonians over the next few months.
The vision lays out the areas where funding will be allocated and is focused on three key priorities aiming to make Clacton Safe and Lively, Prosperous and Healthy.
These three pillars were highlighted in consultations held last summer which gathered valuable feedback from more than 600 residents, visitors and businesses in Clacton.
With funding spread over ten years, the vision sets out a mixture of short and longer-term projects; all of which will supplement other funded regeneration initiatives and private sector investments.
Pride in Place is one of a number of multi-million pound investments into Clacton, the collective power of which will be to re-shape our town.
This is not just about making Clacton ‘look good’ – though it will certainly help with that – but also delivering initiatives to keep people safe, health and provide skills and employment opportunities too.
A top level summary of the vision can be found on our Vision page, and more details will be added in the coming weeks now the document has been signed off by government funders.
