Free ‘Love Clacton’ family fun day to bring buzz to Clacton town centre
Street performers, buskers, family activities and face painting will help bring Clacton town centre to life later this month as part of a free community event.
The free ‘Love Clacton’ event will take place from 10am on Saturday, 26 September, in partnership with Clacton Arts Centre, with funding from the Clacton Town Board as part of its work to animate the town centre.
Clacton Town Board was formed as part of the Government-funded Pride in Place programme, which is providing £20million over ten years to support regeneration in the town.
Buskers will perform around the town centre, while street performers entertain shoppers and visitors, with small stalls also planned for Christmas Tree Island.
Families will be able to enjoy free activities including face painting, a fun dino experience and an art trail around the town.
A short film celebrating Clacton and featuring local voices will also be shown on a big screen in the town square during the day.
We have now received the first instalment of the Pride in Place funding to restore pride in our town, and one way of doing this is to animate and celebrate our town centre.
We want to showcase what Clacton has to offer and the exciting projects coming up over the next decade to revitalise this brilliant town and make it safe, lively and prosperous as well as thanking you for your suggestions and ideas.
I’d urge everyone to come along and be part of the fun atmosphere and feel the buzz of a busy town centre.
