Have fun at Love Clacton family day in town centre this weekend
Performers, activities and more have been revealed for a free, fun, family event in Clacton town centre this weekend to celebrate the award of £20million Pride in Place funding.
On Saturday (26 September), Clacton town centre will host a free event from 10am in collaboration with Clacton Town Board and the Clacton Arts Centre.
Musicians will perform throughout the day on the main stage on Christmas Tree Island and across the town at busking stations outside Jaco’s, Un-sealed, and the Old Market Café; plus Clacton Art Gallery from 2-4pm.
Acts include Cube ‘n’ Eels, Syncopate and Jax and Co, along with False Colours, Loxley’s Corner and the Blue Mountain Reggae band, bringing musical styles as diverse as country, indie rock, folk, reggae and even ‘bossa noir’ – ensuring there is something for everyone.
Visitors can also learn from the best and take part in interactive, circus skills workshops or watch the incredible feats from the professionals as stilt walkers, magicians and circus troupes take over the town.
Families can enjoy face painting, storytelling and a colouring station from Roger the Elephant, along with a meet and greet with a baby dinosaur with Cretaceous Creatures.
Food stalls will be stationed in the town which include coffee from The Ambition Café, jacket potatoes from Spud Box, delicious milkshakes and loaded waffles from The Shake n Waffle box and vegan street food from Bolivian Pastries – as well as all the usual eateries Clacton has to offer.
A short film celebrating Clacton and featuring local voices will also be shown on a big screen in the town square during the day.

Clacton Town Board was formed as part of the Government-funded Pride in Place programme, which is providing £20million over ten years to support regeneration in the town.
