Good vibes spread throughout town at Love Clacton Day
Musicians, circus performers and entertainers put smiles on people’s faces during the Love Clacton Day at the weekend.
Clacton town centre was brought to life on Saturday (26 September) with the lively event organised by Clacton Arts Centre, and funded by the Clacton Town Board.
Live music took place around the town at busking points and on the event main stage on Christmas Tree Island – which also saw performers such as belly dancing, and a whole host of artisan and community group stalls. Entertainers such as stilt walkers, bubble artists and comedy circus acts kept people amused as the acts circled the town centre.
The event was staged to celebrate the award of £20million Pride in Place funding to Clacton and spread positivity.
We have had so much positive feedback from people, and hope it helped to bring those good vibes to the town.
“This demonstrates the type of activity we can do, together, to bring our town to life. I would like to give a special mention to the Jaywick Sands Performing Arts (JSPA) team who ran the sound on the main stage – they are such professional, talented youngsters.
A short Love Clacton film celebrating the town and hearing the views of local residents was shown on a big screen in the town square during the day, and is now available to watch on the Love Clacton social media channels.
Mark Stephenson, Vice-Chairman of Clacton Town Board, said people who attended could feel the warm atmosphere spreading around the town.
One of the lovely aspects was seeing people engage with the buskers and entertainers right across the town centre, commenting on what a great day it was,
People were encouraged to follow the music, comedy and even bubbles to be part of the wider Clacton community, which binds us all together and which is one of the real strengths of our town.
A key theme in the Clacton Town Board’s Ten Year Vision is to have a safe and lively town, with streets animated with events such as this – and Love Clacton Day showed just how that can be achieved.
Our huge thanks go to Clacton Arts Centre and all of the wonderful performers, entertainers and stall-holders for putting on such a wonderful event, along with officers at Tendring District Council for their work arranging the day on behalf of the Clacton Town Board.
