Tactical Response Team launched to tackle community safety concerns
A cross-organisational tactical coordination group has been established to tackle priority issues identified through community engagement, focusing on improving safety and reducing anti-social behaviour in key areas such as the station and town square.
Concerns include daytime street drinking, evening disorder, and creating a safer, more welcoming environment in high-footfall locations. The group brings partners together to deliver targeted interventions and ensure a coordinated response, aiming to boost public confidence and enhance the town’s reputation. While this intervention requires no direct operational funding, it will align with PFCC investments in visible policing and hotspot operations, and work alongside initiatives like the Sport and Youth Crime Prevention Project, which supports young people through physical activity, mentoring, and life skills development. By working collaboratively, the aim is to enhance public confidence, improve the town’s reputation, and make these spaces safer for everyone
