Upgrades to the CCTV in the Town Centre alongside additional on-street presence.

Building on the existing Safer Streets Programme’s CCTV expansion, this initiative focuses on upgrading monitoring quality and maintenance of current systems to ensure optimal performance.
The programme aims to achieve comprehensive Town Centre surveillance coverage while looking at additional measures, such as introducing ‘Street Angels’/Taxi Marshals and a ‘Nite-Net’ radio system for security staff at night-time venues to enhance evening and night time security. This enhanced security measures will provide residents, businesses, and visitors with increased confidence and safety throughout all hours of operation and respond to needs emerging from local engagement.

The Safer Streets Programme has successfully installed 14 new CCTV cameras and upgraded 21 existing cameras in key locations including High Street, Old Road, and Wellesley Road.
