Clacton is a wonderful place to live, with a number of schools rated Good or Outstanding, local healthcare facilities including a hospital, and amenities – not to mention the beautiful coastline.
“Clacton has a rich cultural capital and unique seaside heritage, it’s a wonderful place to live, work and explore”
To enhance life for residents in the Clacton area we are focusing on four key sectors: health and wellbeing, homes, investing in education and skills development and enhancing transport infrastructure, we aim to create a community where everyone can thrive. These programmes are the foundation of a brighter, more connected future for Clacton.

A number of projects are improving transport connectivity in the town, these include:
A new walking and cycling route was created between Clacton and Jaywick Sands with drainage and lighting to increase connectivity use, especially in winter.
The one kilometre route, completed in March 2024, is user-friendly for cycling and mobility scooter use and uses off-grid wind and solar powered lighting.
The project was completed by Essex Highways on behalf of Essex County Council in March 2024.
This project is designed to make Jaywick and Clacton more connected and to improve sustainable travel opportunities for residents to access key services, employment, and training opportunities. It will deliver bus stop improvements to approximately 32 bus stops, including provision of 5 new shelters, 16 sets of raised kerbs and other safety improvements, as well as 24 updated flags at bus stops.
Essex County Council, in partnership with Tendring District Council are creating a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for Clacton and Jaywick. This is a long-term plan to prioritise walking and cycling infrastructure over the next 10-years (subject to funding).
Community engagement was held in Autumn 2024.
Some of the regeneration plans for Clacton include an element of housing. For example, the Carnarvon Terrace development will include 28 apartments. There have also been brand new private-sector schemes, such as Mayfield Place in Station Road.
More widely, there is the proposed Hartley Gardens development from Homes England and Greenwich Hospital, on the edge of Clacton.
There is a range of support available for continued learning within Clacton, with a number of projects underway to help residents achieve their potential and access future career opportunities in the area, such as Freeport East.
