Celebrating our strong cultural heritage

Join us as we dive into Clacton’s cultural evolution – from bringing a historic Martello Tower fort back to life to creating an arts and community micro venue on the seafront.

We want our town to be an even more vibrant and thriving place, building on its strong sense of identity, culture and seaside heritage.

We are building on Clacton’s strengths as a family-friendly seaside destination, encouraging visitors to choose to stay longer and spend more in the area, alongside providing excellent quality accommodation, attractions, improved amenities, and activities to suit a range of needs and interests.

Clacton has a strong cultural heritage of performance and entertainment that bring a sense of enjoyment and celebration to the town that we aim to celebrate.

Clacton is a town that respects its heritage, while looking to the future, by preserving its historical landmarks and repurposing them to enhance the town’s offer.

“We want Clacton to be a vibrant and thriving seaside town, that builds on its strong sense of identity and is where the people are proud to live”

George Kieffer, Chairman, Clacton Town Board.

We are working to promote the town’s heritage offer, attracting visitors and encouraging them to stay longer – recognising the importance of tourism to the area’s economy. We can boost tourism by attracting more visitors; through delivery of aesthetic and functional improvements to Clacton town centre and the seafront, increasing the number of local attractions and improving the area’s appearance, and providing additional facilities for residents and visitors.

“Our projects aim to harness culture and tourism on the Essex Sunshine Coast to regenerate the town and provide more opportunities and for our residents.”

Councillor Ivan Henderson, Deputy Leader of Tendring District Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism
